Once You Belonged To Me

The invitation you extended me
Gave me hope that we could be friends.
Something I had dearly longed for
Since we reached our final end.
I came to you with a belief
That we could finally achieve
Something we never possessed
During the years you belonged to me.
Such surprise awaited me there
With your shameless desire for me
Bringing back the memory of her
When you still belonged to me.
You enticed my very soul
To feel your arms of love
Yet I remembered the pain
It took me so long to rise above.
With your alliance now estranged
You turned and reached for me
Yet I couldn't let it happen to her
For now you don't belong to me.
