No Knight in Her Days

She tore down the splendor of romance
And built a wall stone by stone
Too fragile to open the barricade
From behind the fortressed walls alone.

A doubting damsel without belief
A knight would brave it all
To unbind her from the loneliness
And free her from the prisoned wall.

Against her scarred and damaged soul
From swords of past gone years
A knight would not be patient enough
To tear down her wall of fears.

No knight would take the challenge
To find the beauty that lies therein
So she dwells sheltered and secluded
Behind her lonely walls within.
