My Heart's Desire

In several loves I have rejoiced
Recalling the warmth of their embraces.
Their memories will not vanish
Nor their handsome young faces.

To the core my pain throbs quietly
For my loveless ghosts tonight
Who trampled heavily upon my heart
Yet brought forth love's delight.

Now like a tree in bitter cold
I stand as a woman alone
Left only with naked limbs
From whence my loves have flown.

Though my loves have come and gone
Leaving me more lonely than before
Where once love sang in my heart
Now love sings in me no more.
